Farmlands in Delaware County, NY is a solo exhibition exploring the region through the eyes of Keiko Howard (aka: Keiko M. H.)
Keiko Howard is a Japan-born visual artist based in Delaware County, NY. Influenced by Impressionism and inspired by the emotional power of connection, her work explores light, space, and personal meaning through oil, acrylic, pastel, alcohol ink, and cold wax. After earning a degree in visual arts from SUNY New Paltz, Keiko paused her practice to raise a family but returned with renewed purpose during the pandemic. Since then, she has exhibited in solo shows, local juried shows, international art fairs, and group exhibitions in New York City. In 2025, she completed her first public mural and has another commission scheduled for the following year. Keiko is also active in arts organizing, curating exhibitions at the local public library and collaborating on community events, with a growing vision of building a sustainable and community-rooted art practice.

March 29 to April 26
Opening Reception on Saturday March 29 from 1-4pm
The Roads of Our Lives is a series of black-and-white photographs depicting the beautiful, remote roads of Delaware County, New York.
“The roads that wind through the hills and valleys of Delaware County touch me every time I drive on them or walk on them—or ride my bicycle. When I need to run an errand I often find myself taking the long way just for the inspiration. The symbolism of where I have been, where I am, and where I am going is never lost on me. I love these roads.”
And there’s no doubt about it, there’s a large dose of Robert Frost in these pictures. I love that.
Nick Kelsh is the photographer and author of 10 books, including two with Pulitzer Prize winner Anna Quindlen—Naked Babies and Siblings. He recently published his first novel, A Christmas Photo, an historical novel about the Philadelphia photographer, Robert Cornelius, who took the first close-up photograph of a human face in 1838, and his friendship with Charles Dickens.
Kelsh has appeared on Oprah and The Today Show multiple times.
Kelsh is a resident of Treadwell, New York.

Artist’s Talk at 2pm
This body of work has been influenced by the Tantras of Rajasthan.
I discovered these Tantras when a friend showed me a wonderful book called “Tantra Song,” which presents the collection of the French poet, Franck Andre Jamme. I was astonished by what I saw, transfixed by their power, their beauty, their frankness. These humble works on paper are abstract, simple in form, and brilliant in color. Intended as focal points for meditation; I saw them through the eyes of a Westerner, as stunning images.
I do not claim to be an adept, or that these works are Tantras, they certainly are not. They utilize the language of Tantras; vibrant color, simple forms, and modest scale. These works are a take on something
that is mysterious, intangible, something I don’t understand.
Jim Napierala was born in Buffalo, where he studied
Sculpture and Art History obtaining degrees in both from SUNY Buffalo. Moving to New York after college, he studied in the Master’s Program in Art History at Hunter College, and at that same time turned to Painting. Over the past 40+ years he has exhibited widely in New York, and throughout the country. Napierala works out of his studio in upstate New York.

Meet the artists
Featuring artwork from this year’s Stagecoach Run Art Festival Artists
This July, as they have for more than twenty seven years,
artists in and around the historic arts communities of
Franklin and Treadwell will open their studios, homes,
barns and galleries for the Stagecoach Run Art Festival.
The self-guided tour welcomes visitors from all over the
state and the country to wander the hills of western
Delaware County and enjoy some of the best art to be
found in the Catskills.
This year’s lineup includes more than 35 participating
artists spread across 23 locations, the majority of
which are located along the former “Catskill Turnpike”
stagecoach road.
The two day Festival’s mission is to forge and strengthen
relationships between creatives and their neighbors while
simultaneously demonstrating the financial and cultural
value that artists add to a community. As the western
Catskills has seen a huge influx of newcomers since the
pandemic, that mission seems even more relevant and
important.
This year’s event will be July 5 and 6. Stagecoach is a
self-guided tour and entirely free to the public. Many of
its visitors begin their journey at the Bright Hill Literary
Center in Treadwell, where a salon-style exhibition of
participating artists’ works can be found. The exhibit will
run from Saturday, June 14 through Sunday, July 6 and
can prove especially helpful for visitors trying to plan
their time at the Festival.

Painting nature using the format of still life
I am a lifelong New Yorker, born in Brooklyn, who moved to Delaware County in the early 80’s and have been painting my entire life. It has been my intention to paint nature using the format of still life. It is a very controlled discipline that suits my temperament. It allows me to build a composition, making changes as I work the surface; adding, subtracting, and at the same time recording – if it is organic matter – the cycle of life from bloom to decomposition.
I have exhibited in various galleries and exhibition spaces in New York City, Philadelphia, Memphis and Delaware and Otsego Counties too numerous to mention from 1971 – 2024.
