Jim Napierala -Curator
My name is Jim Napierala, and I have been asked to organize and curate exhibitions For The Word and Image Gallery at Bright Hill Press. I am very excited by this opportunity. In the last 35 years I have met very many artists of all disciplines who live and work in Delaware County, which has opened my eyes to the potential of mounting exhibitions which represent a diverse and vibrant culture. My goal is to bring that diversity and vibrancy to the exhibitions at The Word and Image Gallery, while keeping it accessible to all. I was born in Buffalo, NY where I studied Art History and Sculpture at SUNY Buffalo. Moving to New York City in my early twenties I studied Art History at Hunter College, worked in art galleries, and took up painting. I maintained a studio in Spanish Harlem, curated shows, and exhibited my work in galleries in New York and throughout the country. My wife and I bought property in Sidney Center in 1989, where we built a home and later a studio. Working here has greatly influenced my painting, my relationship with nature, and hopefully my humanity.
